Mikaeel Kular mum is living in luxury jail cell with ensuite shower and her own KEY
Rosdeep Adekoya was moved into the her “cushy” surroundings after complaining about threats from other prisoner
A mum who killed her little boy is living in a luxury jail cell, it has emerged.
Rosdeep Adekoya has an ensuite shower and a key to her cell at Cornton Vale prison, the Daily Record reports .
She was moved into the her “cushy” surroundings after complaining about threats from other prisoners.
She told guards that letters calling her a beast and a child-beater had been left outside her cell door.
Adekoya has also landed a plum job in the prison kitchen, which gets her out of her cell and allows her to scoff leftovers.
She’ll soon be busy cooking Christmas and New Year’s dinner for her fellow prisoners.
Adekoya beat three-year-old Mikaeel Kular to death over four days in January last year after he was sick following a family meal at Nando’s. He had 40 injuries on his body.
His mother, who has four other children, hid his remains in a suitcase behind her sister’s house in Kirkcaldy and told police he had vanished from the family home in Edinburgh.
Hundreds of police and local people searched for Mikaeel because of his killer’s lies.
Adekoya, 35, was initially charged with murder but convicted of the lesser crime of culpable homicide after telling a court she didn’t mean to kill her son. She’s now serving an 11-year sentence.
A Cornton Vale source told the Daily Record Adekoya is hated by other prisoners.
“She’s never shown any remorse,” the insider explained. “She walks about as if she hasn’t done anything wrong. Inmates don’t take well to people who commit crimes against children.”
Adekoya was in a special protection unit at the Stirling jail until the start of this year.
She was then moved to mix with medium and low-risk inmates but our source said she was “immediately targeted” with threatening letters left at her cell.
Staff believe Adekoya will be safer in Wallace House because inmates there won’t want to risk their place in the unit by targeting her.
The source said: “It’s a privilege to be in Wallace House. And if inmates threaten her, they will end up back in locked conditions.
“Adekoya was only jailed last year and she’s already in a cushy unit. It’s shocking.
“If she’d been moved back to the protection unit she would be locked up for most of the day. The staff want her to progress before she is released.”
It’s understood Adekoya’s move to Wallace House was officially registered as a transfer request to a non-smoking section of the jail.
The prison service said: “We don’t comment on individual prisoners.”
As well as her comfy new cell, Adekoya is enjoying the privilege of working in the kitchen.
“It is a good job as you’re out of your cell all day,” the source said. “And you get to take some of the leftovers as well.”
Adekoya will help cook the Christmas dinner – turkey with all the trimmings, trifle and Black Forest gateau – and the New Year’s Day meal, usually roast beef.
Social services had extensive contact with Adekoya and her children before she killed Mikaeel. It began after she left her kids alone in July 2012 and went drinking.
Mikaeel was put in foster care after the incident and only returned to Adekoya in August 2013.
But a report by child protection chiefs in April said his death could not have been predicted.
Mikaeel Kular: Father of tragic tot demands killer mother Rosdeep Adekoya must never be freed from jail
GRIEF-STRICKEN Zahid Saeed branded Adekoya a “demon” after she admitted beating her three-year-old son to death and hiding his body in a suitcase.
THE heartbroken father of Mikaeel Kular has demanded the toddler’s killer mother never be released from prison after she admitted battering the three-year-old to death.
Zahid Saeed, 30, branded Rosdeep Adekoya a “demon” and says she should “suffer every day”.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard on Friday how mum-of-five Adekoya beat Mikaeel after he was sick after eating ice cream on a family trip to Nando’s.
The tot was left to suffer because his mother refused to get him medical help, fearing her cruelty would be exposed.
After his death, Adekoya stuffed his body in a suitcase and drove to near her former home in Kirkcaldy, Fife, where she dumped it.
Then she lied to police that he had gone missing from their flat in Edinburgh.
As they launched a huge hunt for him, aided by hundreds of concerned volunteers, Adekoya played the part of the desperate mum to perfection.
Furious Zahid was in court to see Adekoya plead guilty to the lesser charge of culpable homicide on Friday.
And he said he hopes she does not commit suicide behind bars. He said: “My opinion is it should be an eye for an eye.
“I don’t want her to rot in hell, I want her to live for eternity so she can remember what she has done and live with the guilt.
“I hope she does not take the easy way out. She should suffer every day.”
Zahid had been banned from seeing his son by his ex after a bust-up. He added: “She should stay in jail until she dies.
“No parent should ever go through what I went through.
“I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy.”
